The Ridge School was etablished in 1959 by 24 companies that sought to educate the children of their employees after the closure of the British Army school. These companies became the debenture holders. Originally registered as 'The Ridge School (1959)', it became necessary to re-register the school in 1966, after the coup d'etat which overthrew the government of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Hence the school is now known as The Ridge School (1966).
Originally ,the school offered primary education only, but a Kindergarten(KG) was added in 1980 and a junior Secondary School(JSS) in 1991. The age range is from 5 years(KG) to approximately 15years(JSS 3)
